Union Pacific (UP) Port Laredo Intermodal Facility

The Port Laredo Intermodal Facility Expansion project for the Union Pacific Railroad (UP) in Laredo, TX is a multi-phased project involving expanding the existing intermodal facility by approximately 150 acres which more than doubles its original size and includes a new entrance road almost 1 mile in length. The project relocates the entrance road and portal facility to improve safety, traffic flow and eliminate delays. The scope of work includes erosion control, seeding, rip rap, earthwork, concrete slopes/channels, drainage, sanitary sewer, water main, asphalt & concrete pavement, fencing, buildings, site electrical, compressed air system, track work and other site work items. Earthwork consisted of over 1,250,000 CY with cut depths of over 60’, structural fill depths of over 20’ which was substantially completed within 4 months. Other major aspects of the project involve drainage improvements with concrete lined slopes and channels, box culverts, headwalls, drainage pipe and structures. Self-performed work includes excavation, aggregate base, and drainage.
