South Main Street Reconstruction

The work on this project was performed under two contracts and included the complete reconstruction  of approximately 4.2 miles of four lane roadway that consisted of a rural road section as well as a main  truck route through a commercial and industrial portion of South Rockford. One of the larger challenges  was working around the masses of aged, buried utilities that often times were unknown until  excavations began. Continued service to residents and business was a priority as well as maintaining  traffic flow. Major items of work included 115,000 CY of Earth Excavation, 135,000 SY of Pavement  Removal and PCC Replacement, 138,000 TN of Stone Base, 26,000 LF Storm Drainage including over 470  Structures, 20 Acres of Parkway Restoration, $3.2m Electrical, $3.4m Structural & Miscellaneous  Concrete.  Total Value $32.4m
